About The Program

This course provides students the opportunity to gain the many skills required in the various professions of child care and development. Any student considering early childhood and/or elementary education or any of the many areas concerned with the care of children would benefit greatly from this program. Students study in depth the growth and development of children between birth and eight years, learn theory, plan activities, and participate in field experience placements at local child care centers and elementary schools.

Second year job placement through the Career & Work Skills Training program is possible. This program provides a portion of the requirements to receive a teacher's assistant certification through WV Department of Education.
